Update on Nate's hand

The day Nate burned his hand, a huge blister came up. Right before bed that night it popped. Now the skin is starting to come off and we are trying to keep it clipped per his doctor. I change his bandage and medicine a couple times throughout the day. That is pretty much the only time he acts like his hand is bothering him and it is probably b/c he can see it looking all gross. He even claps with that hand, so I feel like he must not be in a ton of pain! The pictures are not great b/c he did not want to sit still! Shocking, I know. ;)

An unrelated note: This morning Adah was lying in the floor and Nate got down with her with a leg on each side of her and sang "itsy bitsy spider" to her tickling her with his fingers like I do to him. It was so cute. I tried to video it on my phone. We have go to get a real camera!

Venting

Okay, so it is only Tuesday morning and already this week Nate has burned his hand, I didn't hear from the job yesterday, AND this morning Thomas's car shut down on his way to work in the HOV lane with 2 riders! He is having it towed to a shop. Our mechanic in Tyler told him over the phone that it could be a $200 fix or a $2000 fix. The car is only worth about $1500 so this puts us in an interesting position. Please pray that it is a $200 fix!

Curiosity Killed the Cat... or Burned the Hand

Little boys are way too curious for their own good! Nate has touched a hot frying pan before and burned his hand, but today he got WAY too curious today. What is it about "that's hot, don't touch it" do little boys not get? When Thomas was little he touched a hot blow torch and in an effort to follow in Daddy's footsteps, our little stinker put his entire palm down on a hot burner today.

We were relieved to hear the doctor say that it isn't that bad and will heal fine. Nate did however milk a chocolate milkshake (no pun intended) and some extra Veggie Tales out of it. He is playing with his toy farm animals. He stops every once in a while to say something about burning his hand on the hot burner, but seems to be pretty content. Adah better not be this curious!

Monkey Business

So since I have a baby to take care of, Nate has decided that he does too. He has a Curious George monkey that has become his baby. It is pretty logical, he is shaped like a baby and about the same size as tiny Adah! This is Nate turning on the swing, music and all to help his diapered monkey to relax and take a nap. He says, "It's ok, monkey." Yes, Monkey wears a diaper because he is not yet potty trained. However...
...we are working on it! Nate even gave him a book to read. He got in trouble later though because he had a "poopie diaper". If George really did go potty, maybe Nate would learn how I feel cleaning up his pee off of the floor! ;)

Pics of kids

Hey Guys! My awesome babysitter is also a awesome photographer and she recently took some pictures of my kids for her portfolio. You can see all of them at www.michaelacarpenterphotography.com Click on Slide Shows - Nate & Adah and the password is cumming. She did some really neat things with the focus. There is a really cool one of Adah that is focused on her hand grabing her foot, but she is smiling in the background. Super precious!

Playing Tent

The other day Nate seemed like he was getting bored, but it was far too hot to play outside. I decided it was time to bring out the clothes pins and a king size sheet for a little tent fun. At first Nate was more into the clothes pins than the tent, but when Mommy and Adah got in the "bed portion" of the tent, he thought it was super fun. He even came to "read Mommy and Adah book in tent". I am sure he will be more into building tents (or do boys call them forts?) as he gets older. This time I think I had more fun than he did! It is fun to be a kids again sometimes! ;)

Pizza and a Movie Night!

Thomas and I recently decided that Friday nights are going to be our weekly pizza and a movie family night. Last week we were blessed to get to share that fun with some sweet friends, but this week was our first time with just the 4 of us. We made our own pizza and Nate picked out the movie Cars to watch. He was very excited about the "race cars"! We let Nate stay up "late" and finish watching the movie, which he actually paid attention to pretty well. After dinner he got in his jammies and snugged Daddy on the couch for a bit. He found a paper towel and held it to Thomas's nose telling him to "blow". Silly boy. Adah played until she fell asleep so she wasn't all that into pizza and a movie night, but I am sure it will grow on her! ;)

Mommy's Little Helper

Nate has become quite um... helpful around the house. He has been wanting to "help Mama" When I handwash dishes he pulls a chair over to "help" aka play in the bubbles. Sometimes when I am cooking he pulls the chair over and pretends that he is "makin' bubbles".

One day I had put my cleaning supplies in the kids bathroom and then went to change Adah's diaper. When I came back Nate had climbed up on the counter and was "cleaning".

He also "helps" fold the laundry by handing me things out of the laundry basket, sometimes faster than I can fold them! He also tries on the clothes from time to time.
And I can't leave out the most helpful chore - mowing the carpet! :) He cracks me up daily!
P.S. Okay fellow bloggers - this was my first attempt at adding pics and I am sure there is an easier way! And I can't seem to figure out how to make my blog all cute like all of your's! Who wants to teach me?

Sleepless nights

Asking for your prayers with this blog! We have not been getting alot of sleep as of late at our casa! It seems to have started shortly after Nate moved to his toddler bed. He wakes up screaming at least once a night and sometimes ends up in our bed out of desperation! He usually wants juice or to "go downstairs". Last night he woke up at 1:45 crying and asking for lunch. Yes lunch at 1:45am! Are you kidding me???
Adah has been a better sleeper than Nate was, but for the past week or week and a half she has been waking up at least twice to eat!
Anyway, all of this results in not enough sleep for Mommy and Daddy, which sometimes results in a cranky Mommy and Daddy! And that is no good!
When I get a second to figure out this blog thing better and how to post pictures, I will do a 4th of July post! The kids looked super cute in their red, white, and blue. We also got a picture of them with their cutie pie cousin Riley who is 10 days younger and 4 pounds bigger than our tiny little Adah!

Frustration

Well, it has been a frustrating day so I am going to vent it here and move on!
I haven't heard from the OB office that I applied at that I REALLY want to work at. I drove around for 2 hours handing out resumes to offices who are not even hiring which felt like a waste of time, especially for an introvert who HATES doing stuff like that.
Adah seems to be teething or something. She is a fussier baby than Nate was, but it has gotten better every month. Today, however, she has been super cranky. She has a low fever, but it may just be from getting all worked up yelling at Mommy all day! ;) (while I was trying to clean my mess house, but that will have to wait!)
Nate seems to have forgotten all of the potty training we have been doing. The weekend was hard for him being out of town and yesterday we were at church, out to eat, or driving home all day so he was just in a diaper. Today he has been the king of pee puddles. One he even splashed around in... lovely.
Also, maybe it is hormones, but I have been feeling guilty today about not playing with Nate enough. I have been so busy with work, Adah, trying to clean and do laundry, and looking for a new job that sometimes I feel like I don't give him as much attention as I should. Right now he is sitting in my lap drawing on my arm with a pen though... Mark of a mom! ;)
Okay, getting over the day and moving on to make dinner. Nate says he wants a snack. :)

Potty Training Diaries Volume 4

Potty training is going good except for the fact that there has been absolutely NO #2 since last Friday!!! Is that ok? We are going for Adah's check-up tomorrow so I believe I will ask about that. Anyway, only 2 accidents today. The second one was more my fault than his. I had just gotten the phone call that I mentioned in my last blog, "Seriously?" and I was a little distracted with calling Thomas and the old OB I worked for to get e letter of reccomendation and I forgot to take him to the potty. He is still not telling me that he needs to go, but he is getting good at not peeing all over the seat and floor so that's good! ;)

Seriously?

So I got a call this afternoon from one of my bosses in a chain of bosses that I have with my ultrasound job. He was calling to tell me that they have hired a full time tech to start Monday and they don't have a shift for me to work until the 20th! I am PRN, but when I accepted the job it was b/c the HR person told me that I would always have work. Then apparently the girl they hired was working at the hospital and she has transfered to where I am and that has been in the works for a while, they just didn't warn me.
Anyway, we depend on my paycheck too so I am on the job search again. It feel like looking for jobs is all that we do at our house! I am trying to think of this as God pushing me to expidite my search for an OB job which is what I truely love. So please be in prayer that He brings something good out of this!
