Video from the Aquarium

At the Aquarium there is a train that takes you through a huge tank of sharks. Nate is very into trains so he was so excited about this. When the train was approaching to pick us up he got giddy! It was so cute! He was laughing an stomping his feet with excitement. I took this little video on my little picture camera, so it isn't the best quality. Also we were sitting right under the speaker, which was super loud, but it was neat to have sharks swimming all around us. Well, it was only neat b/c we were not in the water with them! EEEEK! Anyway, Nate doesn't smile the whole time I am taping, but I guess he was just taking it all in b/c he is still talking about it! I hope this works, I have never posted a video before!

Uncle Alan and Aunt Sarah

Last week Thomas brother Alan and his wife Sarah came down from NYC to visit! Nate was sooo excited to see Uncle Alan and Aunt Sarah! It was also their first time to meet Adah. We had lots of fun while they were here. Grammy (Thomas's mom) came too and one night she stayed with the kids while the rest of us went out for dessert without kids, which was awesome!!!!

Uncle Alan and Aunt Sarah

One of our excursions with Uncle Alan and Aunt Sarah was going to the Downtown Aquarium.Uncle Alan and Nate in front of the Aquarium

Nate and Mama on the Train - Nate FAVORITE part
This is where they send the bad little boys! Don't worry I'm only joking, there was VERY thick glass between Nate and the White Tiger. Who knew there was going to be a Tiger at the Aquarium! Don't cats eat fish? Hmm... This guy (or girl, I am not sure) was beautiful!

We had a great visit and Adah was very happy to meet her Uncle and Aunt. The first time she saw Uncle Alan, she smiled and went right to him! Then she grabbed his nose and held on for a while, silly girl! Nate is still talking about Uncle Alan and Aunt Sawah. We do not get to see them often enough! They are very fun and we are so happy that we got to see them this summer. We can't wait to take Nate to New York to see them. We went when he was about 7 months old, but it would be neat now to be able to show him the sights that he reads about in his book Good Night New York.

Rice Cereal

Rice Cereal
You think she likes it? ;)

So when we took Adah to her 4 month appointment, the Doctor said to wait until she was 13lbs to give her rice cereal. She FINALLY hit that about 2 weeks ago so we have been giving rice cereal a shot. She has gone from gaging and throwing it up, to just spitting it out, to just letting it sit in her mouth until it comes drooling out. She has yet to swallow it, but I am sure she will get it eventually!

I have decided to make her baby food and my sister has a book that gave a recipe for rice cereal, which I totally wouldn't have even thought of! Anyway, to anyone who is interested here it is:

Rice Cereal

1/4 cup brown rice (more nutrients than white)
1 cup water

Grind rice to fine powder. I tried using food processor but got no where, but a coffee grinder worked great. When you think you have it ground enough, do it more. It cooks up a lot bigger. Mix together in pot and bring to boil. Simmer 10 minutes, whisking constantly. Cool slightly and add 3 tablespoons breast milk. add more or less to make thick or thin consistency. I ended up using 5 tablespoons maybe. serve warm and freeze leftovers.

Also:
Oatmeal

1/4 cup rolls oats
3/4 cup water

Almost same as above but simmer 5 minutes, not 10.

EXTRA HINT:

Freeze it in ice trays then move to freezer bags. This way you can thaw only what you need each day!

And the firetrucks came?

A few weeks ago, one of our neighbors' houses was on fire and 5 firetrucks full of firemen came to put it out. It seems to have really effected Nate. He saw all of this as it was starting, because he and Thomas were coming home from running around town. He is still talking about the "big bire" (sometimes his f 's come out as b's). He also tells me that he is scared of the fire in the window, probably because huge flames were coming out of the windows on the house before the fireman got there.

Anyway, he has a storybook bible that we read a story out of every night. A couple nights ago we read "A firey furnance". Since then he keeps wanting to read the page with the picture of the fire on it. Yesterday we were looking at it and he said,"That's the big bire." I agreed. Then he said, "And the fire trucks came?"

How cute is that. I told him that God sent a special fireman to save them and that God gave us firemen so that they would always keep us safe from fires.
